Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Wendy Simpson

Dr. Wendy Simpson

Veterinarian

Dr. Wendy Simpson is the owner and primary veterinarian of Morrisville Cat Hospital in Morrisville, NC. She has been a feline practitioner since 1997. She received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Virginia Tech. In 1995, Dr. Simpson graduated from North Carolina State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and then she completed an internship at Auburn University in small animal medicine and surgery. Following the internship, Dr. Simpson worked in a mixed small animal practice for one year before entering a feline-only practice.

Dr. Simpson is a passionate feline practitioner who feels that there is a much better way of handling cats in a veterinary setting. Her clinic is certified by the AAFP as a Gold Level Cat-Friendly Practice.

Dr. Kim

Dr. Kim Camacho

Veterinarian

Dr. Kim Camacho grew up in Hillsborough, N.C., and is proud to call herself a native North Carolinian. She attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate degree in marine biology, then returned to the state and graduated in 1993 from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. She has worked in small animal practice, veterinary rehabilitation practice, and as a relief veterinarian. She has worked for the Morrisville Cat Hospital since 2006. Her areas of interest are preventative medicine, pain management, hospice care, and meeting the changing needs of cats as they age. She is married to Dr. Mark Camacho, a veterinary epidemiologist. They have three children, one dog and two cats. She loves warm weather, the beach, movies, and high-intensity interval training. She is also involved with ministry at her church.

Dr. Chris

Dr. Chris Simkins

Veterinarian

Dr. Chris Simkins was born and raised in Greensboro, N.C., and has lived in North Carolina his entire life. He received his bachelor of science as well as his master’s degree in animal science from N.C. State. Chris also attended N.C. State for veterinary school graduating with the class of 2020. Chris received the Alamance Kennel Club Scholarship during veterinary school and completed the USDA National Veterinary accreditation program. While working on his undergraduate degree, he was introduced to Morrisville Cat Hospital and began working as a veterinary assistant, where he fell in love with feline medicine.

Dr. Beth Hraban

Dr. Beth Hraban

Veterinarian

Dr. Beth Hraban grew up in Nebraska and knew from a very early age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She obtained a B.S. degree in veterinary science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2004 and then attended veterinary school at Kansas State University, graduating in 2008. Seeking the warm weather and sunshine, she headed to Tampa, Florida, for an internship in small animal medicine and surgery. She stayed on at a general small animal and exotic practice group in Tampa until moving to North Carolina in 2014, where she worked at hospitals in Wake Forest and Durham.

Deb

Deb

Deb has been with MCH since 2014, shortly after moving here from northern Virginia. She has always loved cats and has shared her home with over 20 cats in her lifetime. Deb’s prior career was in a different industry, but she volunteered with cat rescue for over ten years and always desired to work in an animal hospital with cats. Deb is grateful to witness the love and bond humans share with these fascinating creatures. She is passionate about helping our clients and addressing their needs and concerns. Deb is married with three adult daughters. While she is not at the hospital, Deb enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her two cats (adopted from Morrisville Cat Hospital) two. She also enjoys walking, yoga, traveling, doing new things, and volunteering at Rex Hospital.

Gabby

Gabby

Gabby joined MCH’s team in August 2016, working part-time until graduating from NC State University in 2017 with a degree in Agriculture Business Management. She was immensely proud to accept a full-time position after graduation, working at a hospital with a team that genuinely cares for every single patient as if they were their own pet. She has loved animals from a young age and grew up participating in her local 4-H program. The program allowed her to experience being around both large and small animals, from chickens to horses and everything in between. When Gabby is not at MCH, she enjoys cooking, doing yoga, going to the beach, and spending time with her dog, cats, and horses.

Mike

Mike

Mike Joined MCH in October 2019 as a veterinary receptionist. He received a B.A. in History from Virginia Tech, naturally engendering a variety of careers in customer service. It wasn’t until Mike was in his thirties that he became an ailurophile, fostering cats until they found forever homes. When Mike isn’t trying to convince his wife that she is not allergic to cats, he enjoys reading, playing guitar, and attending live music and theater.

Meet Our Nursing Staff

Megan

Megan

Megan is a veterinary technician here at Morrisville Cat Hospital. She has worked in many capacities in the hospital since 2005, when she started part-time. She started as a kennel technician, receptionist, and technician assistant before becoming a full-time technician. Her background is in Zoology and Conservation, and she is specifically interested in Madagascar and lemurs. She works here at Morrisville Cat Hospital because it is essential for her to work somewhere that makes a difference.

She loves working with a team of people who care and do their best daily to provide our patients and clients with the best possible care. She loves getting to know the patients, some of whom she has known from kittens into their senior years, and our ongoing relationships with the clients. Even though the job is exhausting some weeks, she said there is no better feeling than helping a sick patient and then watching them go home once they are feeling better!

Megan B

Megan B, RVT

Megan is originally from California and now happily resides in Durham. She has always loved animals of all kinds but had the privilege of learning the love of cats when presented with a week-old kitten while working as a veterinary assistant in Fuquay Varina. Mason, the week-old kitten, sparked a passion within Megan to work with the fearful and misunderstood. Mason inspired Megan to attend school to earn an AAS in Veterinary Medical Technology from CCCC and become an RVT. Mason has passed on, but her legacy lives in Megan every day. Megan currently has four cats: Pig, Louie, Olive, and Sunny. Both Olive and Sunny are from the Paws 4 Ever Rescue in Mebane and came to MCH for medical issues. Sunny has a congenital megaesophagus, which is a rare issue in cats.

Megan has been diligently taking notes and would like to publish a protocol for this very rare illness in cats. Megan’s professional goal is to obtain a VTS, veterinary technician specialty, in feline medicine. In her spare, Megan likes to spend time with her family, expand her houseplant collection, and research for her VTS certification. Megan is certified in BLS and ALS CPR techniques and has a special passion for anesthesia, pain management, and cytology.

Kaeleigh

Kaeleigh

Kaeleigh is a veterinary technician at MCH who joined the team in December 2011. She spent the first half of her life in California but has lived in North Carolina ever since. Kaeleigh acquired her B.S. in Zoology, as well as a minor in Film Studies, at NC State University. A lover of all animals, Kaeleigh gained a larger appreciation for felines after learning more about their specific health and behavioral needs. Kaeleigh was trained at MCH using solely gentle handling techniques and is grateful to be a part of a team that provides low-stress care for their feline patients. Kaeleigh is particularly interested in feline nutrition and behavior, client education, and skill training. She can often look at nutritional analyses of various diets and previously helped incorporate more food enrichment recommendations into the clinic after attending the 2016 AAFP conference with Dr. Simpson.

Kaeleigh is passionate about ensuring clients feel comfortable with the treatment plans for their cats and enjoys demonstrating and teaching various techniques to provide cat owners with the confidence and skills they need to successfully medicate and care for their cats at home. When not working at the clinic, Kaeleigh enjoys frequenting the local movie theaters, playing video games, and snuggling with her own cats at home. Kaeleigh has two cats, Luke and Chewy, that she adopted from Morrisville Cat Hospital in 2012 when they were kittens.

Shawnee

Shawnee

Shawnee is a Veterinary Technician at Morrisville Cat Hospital. She grew up in southwest Virginia as a Hokie but relocated to North Carolina with her husband in the summer of 2014. Growing up, Shawnee was the little girl who frequently brought home new strays. She began working in the veterinary field in 2006 and has been hooked since. Shawnee loves to nurture and care for various creatures, but cats have a very special place in her heart. She has three cats named Terra, Vader, and Sparkles, one rabbit named Nickels, and a backyard full of domestic ducks. When Shawnee isn’t pampering your kitties here at MCH, she is at home caring for her mini-farm and blogging on It’s A Hard Duck Life blog.

Maria

Maria

Maria joined Morrisville Cat Hospital in April 2019. She grew up across the street from a small farm and developed a strong bond with animals of all types at an early age. She began regularly caring for the animals on this farm during middle school and went on to study Zoology at NC State University. During college, she worked with a mobile vaccine clinic that mainly catered to dogs, began pet-sitting around the Raleigh area, and started volunteering at a local farm animal sanctuary. Maria enjoys plant-based cooking and outings with friends and family when not working. She has four furry children—two pups named Cookie and Apollo and two bunnies named Lorelei and Sir Hopsalot. Working for MCH has made Maria realize cats do rule, so she hopes to add a meowy friend to the family soon!

Kamya

Kamya

Kamya is currently an undergraduate student at NC State pursuing her degree in animal science with a veterinary concentration. She is also going after a minor in microbiology because she has a significant interest in that field. She loves all types of animals, including her favorites: dairy cattle, cats, and dogs. When she first came to work for Morrisville Cat Hospital, she had no feline experience except for her own two cats, but now she loves getting to see all the cute patients every day. In her free time, she loves being outside, reading, and being with her cats named Peanut Butter and Jelly.
